Myrtlewood Golf Club

Highway 17 at 48th Avenue, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

Another of Myrtle Beach’s old favorites, PineHills was redone by architect Arthur Hills in 1997. The old Pines course, the companion to Myrtlewood’s Palmetto track, is now the thoroughly modern PineHills. Both courses start and finish alongside the Intracoastal Waterway, but the true heart of the PineHills design is the rolling, piney terrain. Fairways dodge in and out of the trees, which sometimes are left at the edges of fairways, blocking the route to the green. And those greens, with new and updated bent grass surfaces, are quick and tricky, with lots of undulations. Many of those greens are fronted by water hazards and ample bunkering is found on almost every hole. The modest clubhouse is still a favoured gathering place for local golfers, and the practice facilities at Myrtlewood are second to none. It’s well worth including this facility on any visit to the Grand Strand.

HOW TO GET THERE
The two courses at Myrtlewood are on Highway 17 Bypass, north of Highway 501 (48th Avenue N.)
